Rejoice with the Angels
Rejoice means to feel or show great joy or delight! Luke 2 we read the birth of Jesus, the Savior of the world. The Bible says that He was laid in a manger because there was no room in the inn. The Savior of the world was born and NO ONE could make room for Him? It says that there appeared an angel and a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and goodwill to men!” The Angels rejoiced and continually lifted up the name of the Lord. They knew that He would be our Savior.
As I read this I think about all the difficulties that we have faced this year as a community, church, and nation and how I have learned more now than ever to rejoice in the midst of grim realities. There have been many things that have tried to take my focus off of God and what He is doing in my life! This year has truly caused me to act out Romans 12:12 in my life. It says “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer!”
I can not help but think what it was like for the wise men on their journey to our Savior’s birth. As they followed His star from the moment it rose just to worship the King. When the star set over the birthplace of Jesus, Mathew 2:10 says they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy! I can’t help but wonder what distractions they may have experienced on their journey to Jesus. Just as the wise men had a star directing their journey we have Jesus, the Light of the World, leading us!
I don’t know what tomorrow will hold for you and me but what I do know is, Jesus will be there every step of the way leading us.
No matter how bad our world gets, rejoice with angels and lift high the name of Jesus. Rejoice in hope knowing that Jesus is soon to return and will take us to our eternal home. Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say REJOICE.Tim Finley
